It was my duty to show up to PET on time. By deselecting this duty I let down my unit. Self discipline is the vital key to duty. It is our duty to accomplish the 4 rights: right time, right place, right uniform/ equipment, and right attitude. By missing PET. I failed to accomplish all 4 or the rights as I was told to do so. Respect is one of those things where it takes a long time to earn but you can lose it in an instant and it takes even longer to get back the second time. Selfless service is looking out for other people even if it wont benefit you. It is a service which is performed without any expectation of result or award for the person performing it. A great example was when I was out at the Titanics for the second half f the day pulling guard, the rest of the company got to go home and my NCO came out to relieve me. By being undisciplined and late to PET on Wednesday, I was showing dishonor rather than honor. I wasnt showing that I am devoted to my unit. I wasnt showing that I am devoted to my country. When I finally arrived to PET a half hour late, it would have been more honorable and disciplined to stay and do PET by myself, rather than leave when I didnt see any one from my unit.In a way that I was showing honor was the fact that I managed to overcome the fear of being in trouble and still come to PET, even though I was late. If you are dedicated to your unit and are punctual and self disciplined, it will over all help the unit and your leaders keep track of their soldiers and thus, help the morale of the unit. Integrity ties in a lot with honor. My definition is the ability to admit when you are rang. According to dictionary. Com, integrity is defined as the adherence to moral and ethical principles. I violated my integrity when I showed up to late to PET.If I had been punctual, it would have showed that I have good morals. It would have showed that I believe in the golden rule, do unto others and u would have them do unto you. I would not like it if I was an NCO and I had a soldier late, which then I would have to explain to my supervisor where my soldier was and by me not knowing would reflect bad on me. Another example of the golden rule is if I went to an appointment that I his practice. Personal courage stands out as the main trait I should have explored to ensure I was on time.I should have had the courage to ask my husband if the alarm was checked or I should have checked it myself without fear of him getting mad at me for double checking. The basic building block of selfless service is the commitment of each team member or soldier to go a little further, endure a little longer, and look a little closer to see how he or she can add to the effort. If each soldier takes the initiative to work just a little harder we can accomplish the mission that much faster and to a better degree. But it takes the whole team as a unit, as one, to attain this goal.As I strive on to be a better soldier and take the initiative to be a leader in todays Army, I look a little closer at each of these values. There is always something to work on personally and objectively. To me, being late to PET wasnt that big of a deal, but if I look at the whole picture it is. If I look deeper as to what m actions are saying, I realize Just how important appearance really is. If I am perceived to be a bad soldier that that is the way I will be treated. I will continue to strive to do the right thing and follow the advice of my leaders.

Applying psychological perpective to a case study The aim of this report is to apply psychological perspectives of human growth and development to a specific case study. To demonstrate an understanding of psychological theories of human behaviour with regards to a specific stage in life and to identify ways in which these theories underpin the social work profession. This report will analyse the case of Tina with primarily giving the history and evidence of the case. The report will then explain the possible psychological explanations for Tina’s behaviour, followed by a conclusion and the recommendations the social worker may advise in order to assist Tina. Case history/sequence of events It would appear from Tina’s background she had a difficult upbringing and this appears to have stemmed from her mother leaving when she was three years old. She was left in the care of an abusive alcoholic father and there appears to be significant amount of neglect from her father and issues with poor standards of hygiene. Although, this evidence is from a former friend, both Tina and her brother John were placed on the Child Protection register. Tina was sexually active in early adolescence which then lead to her having a baby at fourteen years old but the baby was taken into emergency foster care as there was evidence of neglect and physical abuse. When Tina was eight months pregnant her GP referred her and her boyfriend Tom to social services due to concerns about their ability to cope with the unborn child because of her previous history. When the social worker visited the family home she reported the conditions of the flat, which is on the fourteenth floor, were unacceptable due to poor standards of hygiene and no signs of preparation for the unborn child. Tom was extremely unreceptive towards the social worker. The social worker received a call from the hospital two days after Tina and Tom had their baby as Tina was seen by staff at the hospital to smack the baby. Psychodynamic explanations of human beha viour Freud’s psychodynamic theory is widely used in the social work profession and is extremely valuable when attempting to understand the relationship between feelings, emotions and behaviour. From a Freudian perspective there appears to be significant evidence surrounding Tina’s childhood experiences and the difficulties she experienced could relate to how her behaviour is affecting her capabilities in looking after her baby. According to Freud (1938) disturbances in the five stages of psychosexual development in childhood could result in abnormal behaviour in adulthood. Perhaps the most important crisis point in these stages is the phallic stage which occurs around the age of three and therefore, does relate to the age when Tina’s mother abandoned her. Freud (1923) would suggest this may cause the child to repress the sexual and aggressive urges into the unconscious causing problems later in life. He suggests children will internalise aspects of their parent ’s standards and would follow what their parents do with regards to aggression and other forms of anti-social behaviour. From a Freudian point of view, it could be argued Tina is exhibiting the same behaviour as her father with being over sexualised and her aggressive behaviour is being displaced unto her newborn baby. Therefore, it would appear the social worker could use the Freudian view of Tina’s behaviour, as it could relate to the disturbances she encountered in her childhood and more specifically the abuse and neglect from her father.

Shakespeare uses irony to great effect in his many plays, specifically dramatic irony, and some cosmic irony, in the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. But why does he use it? What is he trying to achieve or portray? It varies throughout the play, but there are general trends as the story develops. In the beginning we see that it is almost comical uses. The irony then develops into more interesting and intriguing uses meant to keep the audience, especially the groundlings, interested and wanting more. And then finally, he uses dramatic irony to point out some of the reasons why this is a tragedy during and before the climax. In the beginning you see irony without much apparent consequence, which can be seen as amusing in some views and helped to draw people in. Some examples of this would be Romeo and Juliet talks to each other and fall in ?love? before realizing that their parents apparently hate each other. Another example is when Juliet?s nurse comes to talk to Romeo about Juliet, and the friends of Romeo mock her thinking her another stranger. Both of these and other ironies in the opening acts are meant to be entertaining and to keep the groundlings happy, along with other factors, while at the same time setting the stage for the play to become a tragedy, and slowly starting to shift to a more depth as the play progresses. In the center, specifically act three you see the use of irony to be more serious, often trying to lightly foreshadow and keep the audience interested. From Tybalt aggravating Mercutio and then Romeo with his death, after Romeo seemingly feels and professes ?love? for him due to his very recent secret marriage to Tybalt?s cousin, Juliet.
